Wands: The Druid Influence

The wood used for wands in J.K. Rowling’s novels strongly correlate to the Celtic or Druid folklore.  Why does Harry have a holly wand wand?  What about Herminone and her vine wand?  Did you know those match up to their birthday on the celtic calendar?

There’s obviously been a great deal of thought and additional descriptions that goes into the Pottermore descriptions. Continue reading

House Points for Objects

You don’t get to earn points for your house until you get sorted.  If you wait until you are sorted and then go back to collect the object you will gain house points for those.

Note – once you purchase all your supplies from Diagon Alley you won’t be able to view your shopping list again.  It will simply be  a static thumbnail graphic in your trunk.

Chocolate Frogs can be collected throughout book one beginning in Chapter 6 – Hogwarts Express moment.

The cards have their names of the wizards but I must admit I’m a little disappointed that they are not taking advantage of some of the text and artwork that JK Rowling has on her regular site.  I think it would definitely add to the experience if the picture and write up for each wizard was included.  I’m hoping that happens in a future version of the site.

Also – if we have the ability to “gift things” it would be nice if multiple cards could be found so that we could share or trade our duplicates with friends who may not have found the cards yet.

How about extra house points if you collect all the cards?

Here’s a list of the Chocolate Frog Cards:

  • Albus Dumbledore
  • Circe
  • Cliodna
  • Godric Gryffindor
  • Helga Hufflepuff
  • Hengist of Woodcroft
  • Merlin
  • Morgana
  • Paracelsus
  • Rowena Ravenclaw
  • Salazar Slytherin
